Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's)

We have been long time opponents of genetically engineered (GE) foods, also know as genetically modified organisms (GMO). Our products only contain

non-GMO ingredients, and we require proper documentation from our suppliers to this effect for any ingredient that may potentially be grown from GMO seed. In addition to simply having a company policy, we maintain our non-GMO diligence by:

“Strip Test” every delivery of our organic soybeans (a crop with a dramatic GMO history and high level of potential contamination of non-GMO beans) when they are received at our Hood River, OR facility.
Purchase ONLY certified organic soybeans and tofu. GMO beans are not allowed under USDA organic standards.
Our soybeans and tofu are from North American grown soybeans.

Currently we are working closely with the Non-GMO Project, a new, collaborative effort to establish best practices for avoiding GMO’s in production. The Non-GMO Project also has a third party verification system in place to assess compliance with the standard.
