Fast-forward to 2010 -- Turtle Island Foods is the second largest tempeh manufacturer in the country and sole, proprietary manufacturer of Tofurky Brand Products. Tofurky Products are some of the most successful, best-selling meat alternatives on the market. Their success can be attributed to an unfailing adherence to high quality ingredients, a diligence in maintaining a completely vegan ingredient list, a dedication to the vegetarian food industry and never losing sight of our original goal – creating delicious, vegetarian meat-alternatives that change the way the world eats.
We recently introduced the first line of frozen vegan pizzas. Tofurky vegan pizzas feature Daiya cheese, the first 100% vegan cheese to hit the market with real cheese melt, texture and flavor, and Tofurky meat alternatives. Introduced at the 2010 Natural Products West Expo, our pizzas created quite a buzz, taking home the VegNews 2010 Best In Show award.
Our home in Hood River suits us well, and our family business continues to make vegetarian products in small batches using only the finest organic and natural ingredients. We continue to actively expand our tempeh and Tofurky Brands Products. In 2009 we have introduced a line of marinated tempeh strips. In the spring we added Smoky Maple Bacon to our marinated tempeh strip line.
