SAMBAL GORGENG TEMPEH:
Thinly slice 16 oz. (2 packages) Turtle
Island Indonesian Style Tempeh, 10 cloves garlic, 3 red
chilies, 8 boiling onions and deep fry separately in vegetable
oil until golden brown.
Dissolve 2 Tbsp. tamarind* and 1/2 tsp.
shrimp paste* in 1 Tbsp. water and place in wok or frying
pan over low heat.
Add 2 tsp. langkus powder*, 2 Tbsp.
brown sugar and 1/2 tsp. salt. Stir until dissolved. Add
fried ingredients and stir over low heat until blended.
Note: For a special snack, omit
red chilies, add 5 oz. shoestring potatoes and 3 oz. unsalted
peanuts.
